BMI Calculator

Enter your weight and height to get your Body Mass Index, which category it falls in (underweight, normal, overweight, obese), and the healthy weight range for your height.

How to use

Enter weight in kilograms and height in centimeters, then calculate. BMI is your weight divided by your height in meters squared (kg/m²) — a quick screening number used worldwide.

Use the healthy-weight range shown to see how much you'd need to gain or lose to reach the normal-BMI band for your height. BMI is a general screening tool, not a diagnosis — it doesn't account for muscle mass, age or body composition.

FAQ

What is a healthy BMI?

For adults, the World Health Organization defines: under 18.5 = underweight, 18.5–24.9 = normal, 25–29.9 = overweight, 30+ = obese. This tool shows both your number and its category.

How is BMI calculated?

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². For example, 70 kg and 1.75 m gives 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 22.9, which is in the normal range.

Is BMI accurate for everyone?

It's a useful population-level screening number but has limits: it can't distinguish muscle from fat, so very muscular people may read as "overweight", and it's interpreted differently for children, older adults and some ethnic groups. Treat it as a rough guide, not a diagnosis.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No — the calculation happens entirely in your browser. Your weight and height are never uploaded.
