How much should I tip?
It varies by country and service. In the US, 15–20% is common at restaurants; in much of Europe a small round-up or 5–10% is typical; in some countries tipping isn't expected at all. Use the preset buttons or enter your own percentage.
Is the tip calculated on the pre-tax or post-tax total?
This tool applies your percentage to whatever bill amount you enter. Conventionally, tips are calculated on the pre-tax subtotal — so enter the subtotal if you want to tip that way.
How does splitting work?
The total (bill + tip) is divided by the number of people, giving an equal per-person amount. It's the fast, fair way to split without anyone doing math at the table.
