Countdown Timer
Set minutes and seconds, or tap a preset. A sound plays when the time runs out.
How to use
Enter minutes and seconds and press Start. You can pause mid-count, and Reset returns the timer to the beginning. For common values — five minutes for tea, twenty-five for a work block — tap a preset and the count starts immediately.
The countdown is anchored to real clock time rather than browser ticks, so you can safely move to another tab: the timer will not drift and will fire on schedule. Turn the sound off with the checkbox if you only need the visual count.
FAQ
Will it fire if I switch to another tab?
Yes. The end moment is computed from the system clock, so a background tab does not affect it. The alert plays when the time is up.
Why can't I hear the alarm?
Browsers block audio on a page the visitor has not interacted with yet. Click any button on the page once and sound will work from then on. Also check that the sound checkbox is ticked and your system volume is up.
Can I set more than an hour?
Yes — just enter the number of minutes, for example 90. The display switches to hours, minutes and seconds.
Does it work as a Pomodoro timer?
Yes. The 25-minute preset is the standard focus block for that technique, and 5 minutes is the short break.
