Why do the available voices differ between devices?
The voices come from your operating system (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS), not from this site — so the list, quality and languages depend on what your device has installed. You can usually add more voices in your OS accessibility or language settings.
Is my text sent to a server to generate the speech?
No — this uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API, which synthesizes audio locally on your device. The text you enter never leaves your browser.
Can it read other languages?
Yes, if your device has a voice for that language. Pick a voice whose language tag matches your text (e.g. a `ru-RU` voice for Russian) for the most natural pronunciation.
Can I download the audio as a file?
Not directly — the browser's speech API plays audio but doesn't expose a downloadable file. For a downloadable MP3 you'd need a server-based TTS service; this tool is for instant, private, in-browser playback.
